Water Fuel by Glenn Diecedue

How To Save Gas Cost By Running Your Car or Truck On Water

Article Summary: This article looks at the claims of running your car on 100% water and tells you if it's really possible or not.

When you look closely at such 100% water driven technology, one ends up spending even more than using the usual fuel for powering vehicles.

So, the method I recommend for powering your car with water that will save you cost of fuel is to make your own low-cost hybrid car that will run on water and gas, thereby saving you huge costs you would have spent using only gas.

In other words - Hydrogen-On-Demand system where you run your car on Hydrogen WHEN you need it!

Note that I am not saying you should build a car from scratch that will run on water. Not at all. This instead is about constructing simple devices that will enable your car to run on water as well as gas. You don't have to alter your car make-up or get a new car. The technology can work with almost any car or truck.

In simple words, this technology involves putting together home-made devices that use a little electricity out of your car's battery to separate water into a gas called HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). HHO, also known as Brown's Gas or Hydroxy, burns beautifully and by so doing provides TONS of energy.

And the most remarkable beauty is that this pound for pound HHO gas is even much more potent than gasoline. In fact 3 times more potent than gasoline.

By using such cars you effectively save money that would have been spent on fuel for your car. It is estimated that this could save you as much as $897.40 per year. If you are two, three or four drivers in the family, this yearly savings increases dramatically. And what if you have a fleet of 50 drivers in your company? Then your yearly savings will multiply to $44,870.

First things first... this isn't about running your car on 100% water. Of course there are information available about running your car on 100% water but I don't recommend them because they are not only complicated but seriously expensive and completely unpredictable.

The Mercury Hybrid: Protect The Future by Ernest Jarquio

Ford is trying to catch up with the world's expanding hybrid car market as it takes its hybrid car technology research seriously and schedule the launch of more Ford hybrid cars in 2008.

Ford Airstream Concept

Together with travel trailers innovator Airstream, Ford has designed its Space Age vehicle using the HySeries Drive system. The system uses a 336 volt lithium ion battery to generate power to sustain a Ford Airstream for its initial 25 miles.

Ford Airstream is trying to pair its lithium-ion batteries with hydrogen fuel cells, giving it sufficient wattage to run the electric motor. The result is 305 miles of travel, much more than the 280 miles you get if running on hydrogen fuel cells alone.

Part of the costs in developing the HySeries Drive with Airstream was shouldered by the US Department of Energy. Ford also paired with Ballard, a Canadian company who makes the fuel cells for Ford hybrid cars. These partnerships are being undertaken to meet an expected demand of 3 million Ford hybrid cars by 2010.

A new Ford Fusion Hybrid to be released in 2008

It would have been named Futura, if not for a lawsuit filed by Pep Boys, an auto parts shop. Thus, Ford decided to call its latest hybrid entry Ford Fusion Hybrid after a midsize car popular in North America.

Fusion Hybrid will be the fourth among Ford hybrid cars already out in the market. Its predecessors include Mercury Mariner Hybrid, Ford Escape Hybrid, and Mazda Tribute Hybrid.

Fusion Hybrid 2008 will maintain the PZEV (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) rating of the 4-cylinder 2006 Fusion. It will have a 2.3 liter engine which can generate 160 horsepower allowing you to drive at 30 mpg in highway conditions.

Which Is The Best Hybrid Car For You? by Ernest Jarquio

The envelope is in, and the winner is...? The judges are getting their honoraria's worth with the kind of decision they need to make to come up with in their selection of the best hybrid car there is. But it seems they'd really have a hard time deciding, what with the array of hybrid cars that are now on offer to, competing to be the top car in terms of safety, fuel efficiency, emission, comfort and technological innovations.

The Criteria

In choosing a hybrid car, what considerations will you look at? Of course one will not opt for a hybrid if not for the fuel efficiency, otherwise, any other stylish sedan notwithstanding how much gallons of fuel it consumes will be a candidate for one's choice. So the kind of fuel consumption savings and efficiency will definitely be a prime consideration. Relative to this, the best hybrid car will have to have the lowest, if not zero, emission of toxic waste gases. So this criterion is in.

But how will we choose the best hybrid car then? We can probably start by segregating these hybrids, say separate the coupes and sedans from the SUVs and vans. Then segregate them further by dividing the cars into compacts, mid-sized sedans, and so forth. Segregate the pickups from mid- to full-sized trucks. Separate the vans from the mini-vans. The lists goes and on just as the list of available hybrid cars continues to lengthen.

Then you can probably go to the level of body styles, drivetrains, engine power, transmission size and drive, and a host of performance criteria to look for.

Price may be farther down the list, as hybrid cars will almost surely compensate for the initial higher cost through fuel savings and other economy features.

The Semi-Finalists

Some say the Toyota Prius actually started the race and all, and as such a pioneer deserves a place in the hall of fame of hybrids. The Prius starts at a suggested retail of $22,175, and comes with a savings bonus as an ECO-nomic car of around $2,000. Then there are tax benefits, too, for choosing an environmental-friendly car. EPA estimates come in at 55 miles per gallon for combined city and highway driving, and the AT-PZEV (Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle) rating.

What about the mid-size sedans, with more room than the Prius? There is the 2007 Hybrid version of Toyota Camry, which starts at around $26,000. Although the Honda Accord Hybrid and the Honda Civic Hybrid are also in the running, the Toyota Camry consistently figures in surveys made of satisfied hybrid users. The Camry Hybrid attains 34 miles to the gallon as far as EPA ratings go.

Let us go now to sport utility vehicles. The Ford Escape Hybrid is great, but price considerations and its full-SUV features make it less popular than the 2007 Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid, a more compact contemporary, that's priced reasonably at around $23,000, not to mention the tax benefits it gets for being a "green" SUV. Surveys show that this hybrid is comparable to other same-sized SUVs in terms of fuel efficiency and emission-levels.

Compare the Ford Escape Hybrid now to another Toyota SUV, and you get the 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid winning by an edge, if car reviews are to be believed. Reviewers say the performance and efficiency of the Highlander makes it a number one contender for the best large-type SUV of the hybrid kind. At estimated price of $32,500, the EPA ratings of 25 or 26 miles to the gallon for city and highway driving are manageable, if one looks at the long-term fuel savings.

The Verdict?

The title of best hybrid car will always be relative - relative as to the type of considerations the buyer and driver will look for in his hybrid. But with the plethora of hybrids out there, it should not be that much of a problem to find the best one for you.

Hybrid Pickups: More Work For Less Gas by Ernest Jarquio

Hybrid electric vehicles, such as hybrid pickups, are considered to be among the most fuel-efficient modes of transport. Automobiles equipped with the latest hybrid electric technology feature a combination of an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The best thing about this electric motor is that it can be modified or configured for a variety of purposes, such as boosting and improving the performance of fuel economy, and providing electrical power to alternative loads such as energy tools.

Greater Gas Mileage

Hybrid pickups and other electric vehicles are normally propelled by internal combustion engine just like conventional automobiles. In hybrids however, the energy that is usually lost or wasted during car processes like braking and coasting are converted to a potential source of car power. This energy is stored in the car’s battery and will only be utilized by the car’s electric motor when needed.

What then is the function of an electric motor? It is primarily used to provide support to the engine when the car is accelerating or traveling up a slope. Under low-speed situations, the electric motor gives assistance to the internal combustion engine because it is less efficient.

Unlike other traditional electric vehicles, hybrid pickups do not need to be plugged to an external electrical outlet or resource for the battery to be recharged. Instead, regenerative braking and gasoline are what most hybrid pickups need to fully operate.

New Hybrid Pickups and Cars

For next year, several hybrid pickup and car manufacturers have already released their brand new products or models. Here are some of them:

First is the Ford Escape Hybrid, a sports utility vehicle having a 4-cylinder engine and a CVT or continuously variable transmission, all available on both four-wheel and front-wheel drives.

Another type of hybrid pickup or vehicle that will be available next year is the Mazda Tribute Hybrid. Like the Ford Escape Hybrid, it is also a sports utility vehicle that has 4-cylinder engine. The only difference is that its CVT or continuously variable transmission is available only in four-wheel and two-wheel drive.

Also joining this list is the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, another sports utility vehicle that has a four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission both available in the four-wheel and front-wheel drive. The features of this particular hybrid pickup are almost the same as the Ford Escape Hybrid.

Lastly, Lexus LS 600h L is a midsize hybrid pickup or car designed to have an eight-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is one of the most anticipated car releases because of its state-of-the-art features. However, this particular hybrid pickup and the Mazda Tribute Hybrid are both not yet certified by IRS so it means that they are not yet eligible for credits in terms of taxation or tax payments.

Related News

Almost three years ago, Governor Arnold Schwarzenneger authorized the law in California to allow all car lanes to be opened for hybrid pickups or gasoline-hybrid vehicles that can reach distances of up to forty-five miles per gallon, which draws a specific technical demarcation. However, only a relatively small number of hybrid vehicles qualify for this 45 mpg rule as of this time.

This includes the Toyota Prius and Toyota Camry, Honda Insight and Honda Civic Hybrid. Hybrid pickups produced by Ford and those of General Motors missed the cut being employed by this law because they can only reach distances of thirty-six miles per gallon. Overall, this caused a certain constraint on other hybrid automobile products - but it is also an incentive for them to lift their game in future releases.

Pod Cars: The Future Of PublicTransportation by Marvin N. Docena

My featured hybrid car for today is a driverless, electric-powered car. Also known as a "Pod car" that is a four seated vehicle that is said to be launched when London's Heathrow Terminal 5 opens next year. These Pod cars are controlled by an internal computer and an onboard sensor system and will transport passengers between the main terminal and its car parks.

Meanwhile in Abu Dhabi, residents of the carbon community Masdar will be able to travel around on the world's first citywide personal rapid transit system. The system will be using a fleet of driverless, electrically powered cars running on special tracks below the streets. The passengers will enter a car that will carry the maximum of four people and they will select one of the 100 stops throughout the ride.

The advantage of these driverless, electric cars from other transportation vehicles like trains and cabs is that it provides point to point travel and lessens the need of passengers to share space with large number of passengers. The futuristic concept of this car offers significant benefits over traditional transit systems.

London's Heathrow Terminal 5 where a 3.5 km network will start operating next year and will be the first public test of the concept. Meanwhile the Masdar plan is bigger and will be the first citywide version. The Abu Dhabi Future Company which is the company that made this project possible said the experience that people can get from using the system that is similar in hiring a taxi except the cars are that you'll be hiring is driverless.

Stops will be located in such a way that passengers will not have the hard time to walk more than 100 meters before they reach their final destination. The tracks will be concrete at ground level and the entire city will be elevated six meters above. The decision of separating the network from the city is to prevent pedestrian traffic as walking will be a must throughout the development.

Electric vehicles are said to appear in 2010 when the Masdar project is complete. The transit system will take eight years to build and will be developed in parallel with the entire city. Working on the development is expected to start early next year.

If this Masdar project will be successful, it will limit traffic and the need for a long journey. And with these developments, solar panels on the roofs of buildings will generate electricity and will help avoid or the release of CO2 gas which it is very helpful in preventing "GLOBAL WARMING" which is a big threat for all of us living in this world. This project will benefit everybody if it will be successful.

Taunts for the Chevy Tahoe...and now the Accolades by Bernabe Almirol

Sports Utility Vehicles or SUVs have been designed and manufactured to quench the thirst for pulling power normally not be found in most automobiles. Chevy Tahoe, and the very similar General Motor's Yukon, have satisfied this craving, but after a while, these models were taunted because they drink too much gasoline. When Chevy launched a contest for a commercial ad campaign along Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" wherein one would place a text caption to a provided video clip, many owners of earlier Tahoe models took advantage of the contest to point out its higher fuel usage compared to other vehicles.

The craving for muscle power was indeed satisfied by the Tahoe, but not everybody seems satisfied. Well, it is hard to please everyone. As pointed out, the old Chevy Tahoe SUV drank gasoline the way a heavyweight German drinks beer during Oktoberfest.

This taunt was taken seriously. By the fall of 2007, Chevrolet pulled a surprise to launch its first gas-electric hybrid model in the Tahoe platform. Hybrid cars run on electric power stored in built-in batteries when lesser power is required. These batteries are re-charged once the vehicle uses it full-powered V8 engines, such as when it ascend to a steep road or when it is pulling a load.

Another thing new in Hybrid Tahoe is the Active Fuel Management Technology, which takes care of automatically shifting between four-cylinder and eight-cylinder engine power back and forth to save on fuel. Also not wanting to lag behind the race for alternative energy, Chevy introduced a 2008 Tahoe variant capable of adapting to E85 ethanol-blended fuel.

So what now, folks? Chevrolet and General Motors proved they could make your wish for a powerful yet energy-saving automobile come true. Tahoe only deserves nothing but the highest honor to gain back her pride - confer your "SUV of the future" a Chevy Tahoe keychain. Various elegant designs have been crafted to give your key the badge it deserves.

The Teardrop design is a very striking metal keychain made of superior stainless steel materials. A good-looking Chevy logo and the text "Tahoe" is engraved in this 3.5-inch tall and 1.2-inch wide metal trinket. A similar design called Valet keychain is also a metal finished brooch measuring 4 inches tall by 1 inches wide, with the same logo and text engraved. A steering wheel keychain design is also available. Prices for these items start at $9.99. You can also avail of special personalized engraving of the other side of the metal plate at $5.99.

Light brown oval steel and round Chrome metal keychain designs are topped with a black crystallite dome inscribed with a blue Chevy Logo and the “Tahoe” text. The leather-based keychain designs are also topped with the same black dome over a round gold or silver plate reinforcing the leather material. Prices start at $6.99.

If you have decided to give your old great SUV the retirement it deserves to get into the "future car" bandwagon, the keychains work in both ways. You may keep that old key as timeless memorabilia by attaching to an elegant keychain and place it beside the war medals of your great grandfather. Likewise, get another keychain for the key of your new 2008 model Tahoe SUV. Hold your key up high to show everybody that the SUV everybody once taunted as a gasoline drunkard is now a Hybrid, E85 ethanol-blend fuel adaptable vehicle.

Gearing Up Your Car Today by Jon Caldwell

Wouldn't it be nice to be justly rewarded to be green conscious? Well, in this latest move by the B.C. government which offers to as much as $2,000 on fuel efficient hybrid cars, people are getting a feel of just how it is to make that shift to these hybrid and fuel efficient cars.

True enough, such a rewarding option has also helped car manufacturers like Toyota to benefit from this new development. One of the top model hybrid cars of this Japan-based car manufacturing, the Prius, has been the prime target of consumers for their transportation needs today. And mind you, the Prius does not come cheap. One unit alone costs $32,000, not a cheap price to pay for hybrid cars offered for a greener outlook in the world today.

Incentives are known to be good rewards that can entice a market and make them fully aware of the actual intent of governments; that of which is to feel how it is to be rewarded by being green.

In a move to help promote the shift from gas to electricity as their main source of power, various groups have experimented and come up with an electricity reliant car to reduce the gas emissions that have been key contributors to overall pollution and impending global warming.

While the big car manufacturers have not yet gone on the aggressive development for these alternative cars, a lot of the old cars that are mostly left to rot or be junked have been the guinea pigs for this alternative source of energy and fuel. Some may question the reliability of such conversions but it is best to get in depth to see how car engines can be transformed into this green movement as far as vehicles are concerned.

Whether you prefer a Toyota, a Honda or even the high-end luxury cars such as Mercedes Benz, green standard compliant cars would normally have less impact on any potential buyer. Reason for such is usually due to the fact that they are too bent on checking out the features such as power features and of course bonuses installed if and when they purchase cars.

In these cases, green standards are usually taking a backseat. Pollution control due to greenhouse gas emissions are almost a given when you purchase a new car. Maintenance is another thing but if you are buying a new car, chances are, these issues will only set in after 5 years and up.

Just think of it. Why would anyone buy a car that would be a smoke-belching vehicle. It is like buying a second-hand car for nothing special.

Most of us really want to live luxuriously and comfortably. Consumers dream of having their own means of transportation and while cars are within their reach, there is another issue that needs to be addressed...pollution and greenhouse gases.

The air we breathe right now is contaminated. We can smell it and that awkward and different smell is the participation of pollution in the usually clean air we breathe. While people are more concerned of living better lives with good transportation, their health may be in jeopardy.

The increase in the number of motor vehicles, industrial and commercial activities, coupled with the rise in construction work in and around the city, is translating into a lot of air and noise pollution for the residents.

Almost every part of the city suffers on account of air and noise pollution, much of it caused by automobiles. The city's ambient air quality on several parameters leaves much to be desired, with the levels of pollution above the permissible limits.

Honda Posts Increased Sale by Anthony Fontanelle

The American arm of Japanese automaker Honda recently disclosed to the public their sales record for the month of November. According to the automaker, they have sold 111,431 units of Honda and Acura vehicles. That marked an increase of 4.7 percent compared to the company's sales record for November of last year when they sold 106,446 vehicles.

With the American dollar falling against the Euro and the Canadian dollar, consumers are slowly reducing in number. But Honda's performance in marketing their vehicles shows that they are in a position to deliver vehicles that consumers are looking for. Dick Colliver, the executive vice president of American Honda, had this to say according to The Auto Channel: "Even In these uncertain times, our bread-and-butter products are showing real growth. The all-new Accord continues to set a blistering pace with sales up by more than 25 percent."

For years, the Honda Accord has been well received by consumers because of its reliability. The Japanese automaker also manufactures luxury vehicles under the Acura brand. Although Acura is yet to match Lexus in terms of popularity among luxury car buyers, the brand is slowly becoming a favorite among consumers. But last month saw another dismal period for Acura as they posted a decrease of 24.9 percent compared to November 2006. Last month, the Japanese luxury brand sold 12,910 units of cars and light trucks while last year, for the same month, the company has sold 17,200 units.

The Acura division may have experienced reduced sales for November but some of their models showed increased in sales. The luxury division reported that they have already sold 52,700 units of the award-winning Acura ball joint -equipped Acura MDX from January to November this year. That figure is 9.6 percent better than their January to November sales last year of 47,894 units.

Meanwhile, for the Honda division, several models apart from the Accord have helped the automaker set an increased sales record for November. The Honda CR-V is one of them with sales up by 1.6 percent compared to November 2006 sales. The Honda Fit is the biggest gainer with an increase of 106.0 percent. 5,361 units of the award-winning Fit were sold last month. According to the automaker, the Civic and the Civic Hybrid both posted an increase in sales. The Japanese automaker reported that they have sold 24.8 percent more Civic units last month compared to the same period last year. The Civic Hybrid on the other hand increased by 46.6 percent.

Pedestrians and Dangers from Hybrid Vehicles by Valerie Nay

The other day, I put a scare into both myself and a driver when I almost stepped out in front of her hybrid car. She was shaken up and looked stunned that an adult would be so careless. I was just embarrassed.

But as I told a friend about it the next day, I found that it’s more common than I thought. He had done the same thing a few weeks earlier. Then, someone else told me about a woman who was putting groceries in the trunk of her car and didn’t even realize that a hybrid vehicle nearly backed into her!

Hybrid cars are so popular that auto manufacturers are having a hard time keeping up with the demand. The ones already on the market include Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Toyota Highlander, Lexus, Honda Civic, Honda Accord and the Ford Escape.

They use both gas and batteries to operate. At higher speeds, they run on gasoline just like any other car. However, at lower speeds (such as less than 20 mph), hybrids are powered by batteries. At the slower speeds, these battery-powered cars have virtually no noise compared to their motorized counterparts that have a running engine.

As great as they are for the environment, the problem is, you can't always hear them coming!

Pedestrian groups say the lack of noise poses a new hazard to people, especially those who are blind or don’t hear very well. While these groups are still in favor of the benefits that hybrid cars offer - a cleaner, greener environment and less noise pollution - they say these new safety concerns need to be addressed and are working with manufacturers to come up with solutions.

Meanwhile, it's up to us.Both drivers of hybrid cars and pedestrians need to be reminded that things are a little different than they used to be.

* Whether you are driving or walking - Be aware of what's going on around you and never make someone else responsible for your safety! * Remember and practice proper safety measures when crossing the street. Use crosswalks, look both ways, and don’t walk out from between cars. * Be extra alert if you are talking on your cell phone or having a heated conversation. * Be clearly visible to the driver. Make sure they see you. Crossing the street from between two parked cars makes it difficult and is extra risky. That goes double if it's after dark. * Look for signals on automobiles that can tell you they are in operation. Look for reverse lights. Look for headlights. Cars manufactured within the last few years come with daytime running lights. If the lights are on, that can be a signal that the driver is getting ready to pull out. * Always make sure you have emergency contact information with you, whether you're driving or walking.

Hybrid cars are here to stay and lots of us like that idea, but everyone needs to take extra precautions to safeguard themselves as pedestrians. If you driv one yourself, just remember pedestrians can't necessarily hear you coming, so be extra alert when they are present.

Convert Your Car To Run On Water - Save Money, Save Gas! by Alexandre Sol

Convert your car to run on water - save gas, save your car, save money and save the planet.

Fox News recently broadcasted an interesting and very important video report. A savvy automobile owner has come up with a very simple yet incredibly efficient way of boosting his old car's gas mileage by up to 100% - that means several thousands of dollars economy every year.

The creator claims that his developed invention converts water into a gas called HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). Also called Brown's gas or Hydroxy burns better than regular gas at our fuel pumps and provides more energy. This process is often referred to as Hydrogen Fuel Cell conversion.

Gas prices are on constant rise and the fuel economy question is starting to get very serious. More hybrid cars are sold all over the world, concepts of electric cars and Hydrogen fuel cell cars are developed in almost any country and finally there is a way for you to add a little something to fuel efficient revolution.

Car owners seem to forget or maybe ignore the fact that they could get better gas mileage simply by changing the way they drive. You do not need to buy an ugly and slow prototype in order to save on gas. You could increase gas mileage of your V8 truck as well! To get better gas mileage you should follow these simple rules;

* Accelerate gently. This will use less gas.

* Keep your distance - every time you stop you will have to accelerate.

* Take your car to a mechanic; simple air filter change or spark plugs replacement could greatly increase gas mileage

* Drive slower. Going over 120kph will use up much more gas.

* Change gears as soon as possible - low gear uses up to 30% more fuel than needed.

Our cars' engines are designed in such poor way that they only burn about 20% of the fuel - the other 80% is wasted in heat and unburned gas (pollution). When converted to money at 3$ a gallon - per every gallon your car actually uses only 60 cents, and 2.40$ is completely wasted. When you convert your car to run on water, you create a gas which helps burning the fuel in a better proportion.

Instructions on how to convert car to run on water are also available for sale on the Internet. There have been many skeptical people that do not believe in the efficiency of the system - but there doubts always vanish after finding out that the instructions come with 2 month full satisfaction money back guarantee.

Is it not only the "saving money" part that attracts people - when you convert your car to run on water you also increase your car's engine longevity and you greatly decrease the pollution. The system allows you to burn gas more efficiently - which decreases the noise of the engine and the wear and tear of the motor's parts.

The system is composed by simple parts that are basically bolted on the engine. It could be done at almost no cost, by anyone and to any car. The system is completely untraceable when taken off of the engine.

Just imagine yourself buying half the gas you are buying now! Wouldn't it be nice to have an extra couple of thousand of dollars for Christmas presents? For a vacation? For a down payment on a new car?

I hope this article gave you enough of useful information to consider converting your car to run on water.

Electric Car Designs; What Is Missing? by Terry Bolton

There are yearly contests for engineering students, as well as high school students that can enter their electric car designs that promote the development of this automotive technology. Despite the fact the electric auto has been manufactured, and forgotten there is a continuous push for more optimal designs that can utilize battery or solar power to move a vehicle.

El Car Designs Do Not Differ that much from Conventional

Electric cars look like conventional cars aesthetically, both when it comes to exterior and interior. The same great and pretty designs are available, and friends and family will hardly be able to tell the difference. However, some new and simmering are emerging even today that promise better efficiency because unlike conventional cars which essentially only stress their aesthetics, electric vehicles also focus on the insides.

A question many people ask is; what exactly makes electric car designs different from other designs of conventional cars? Well, most electric automobiles bypass the use of gasoline and an engine completely although some have a secondary engine and storage tank in case the battery dies. Rather than using gasoline as a primary source of power, electric car design call for the usage of electricity like the name implies. A huge battery, made from materials like lithium ion - which is similar to performance batteries found in electronics like notebook computers - powers an efficient electric motor. New designs allow electric vehicles to travel up to fifty miles or more on a single charge.

Neat Usefulness

While conventional cars can easily travel 250 miles on a tank of gas, electric cars don't yet have the ability to go even close to hundred miles on a single charge. Keep in mind though that electricity is still much cheaper than gasoline. Nuclear power, hydroelectricity, and other sources of power, can power an electric vehicle indirectly by empowering the lines that the vehicle is charged from at a cost as low as about one cent per mile. The most fuel efficient conventional automobiles still cost around 7.5 cents per mile. It's unlikely that conventional engines will become significant more efficient, which is why research and development has occurred with regard to alternatives such as fuel made of hydrogen and other chemicals as well as electricity

Electric car designs should not be confused with design of hybrid cars. Hybrid cars utilize technologies from both conventional and electric cars to achieve slightly better fuel efficiency while lowering emissions, but they will probably never be as efficient as electric cars. Several families own two or more vehicles, so they would still have a long range car for vacations and business trips. For a car that's cheap and efficient for everyday transportation, an electric vehicle is the perfect solution.

Make Your Next Motorcycle Road Trip A Success by Jafrum

The rising cost of gasoline in todays world has pushed the average consumer to new extremes to try to conserve fuel, and save money. There have been many inventions to help gain gas mileage, with the most recent being hybrid cars. Ever since the invention of the motorcycle in the early 1900's people have been improving upon the engines of the motorcycle and have been perfecting the fuel efficiency. However, no commercially ready solution so far has been able to compare to the motorcycles legendary conservation of gasoline.

The main reason that motorcycles receive such excellent fuel mileage, is simply a matter of weight. There is less machine and driver to propel forward, so there is less fuel consumed. This has been attempted in the car realm, however the results have been a bit hilarious. Three wheeled, covered cars simply look ridiculous. Any self respecting motorcycle rider wouldn't be caught in one of those things.

Some people may make the claim that their small car is better for their family. In some cases this may be true. However a family of three can ride in a motorcycle. Simply use a mounted side car and have one passenger in the side car, while the other passenger rides behind the driver. Using this configuration still allows for fuel savings, and gives the family some time spent on the open road in a fun and enjoyable way. When using this configuration, consider using a set of helmet mounted radios so that the whole family can communicate with each other.

Some motorcycles are able to achieve an amazing 80 miles per gallon of fuel, standard, not modified from the factory. The best car so far, commercially made has been a 63 miles per gallon hybrid from Honda. However, there is a point to consider in all of this, regarding insurance. With a brief interview from a national insurance company, the representative said that it is generally cheaper for motorcycle insurance than for automobile insurance. Of course the actual amount that would be paid is based upon the drivers experience, driving history, motorcycle or automobile type, safety factors of each vehicle, and the actual cost of the vehicle.

So should you buy a motorcycle to replace your car? That choice is up to you. However, in a recent study, an independent company found that with rising costs of fuel, the sales of motorcycles has risen dramatically. I'm sure that these people did not simply trade in their cars for their new motorcycles. Rather they have started using the motorcycles for day to day errand running and such.

The last thing to consider when deciding whether to ride or drive, is the fun factor. Riding a motorcycle has been described as low altitude flying. Feeling the motor surge and the road soar beneath you as the machine floats along on a cushion of fun. Can you say that you feel this in a car? That is most likely not the case.

Cars moving to three wheels by Celeste Y

There is another style of car coming out in the alternative car market. It has been reported not only to be an electric car, but will only have three wheels. The car will tilt and slide around corners like a motorcycle. The company creating the design, Venture Vehicles, has said they aim to market the vehicle for 2009

The steering of the car is the most important aspect, as the engineers had to combine the concept of a car with a motorbike. Carver, based in Holland, invented the design for the steering technology.

It has been reported that the steering will cost $20,000 for a hybrid version or $25,000 for a full electric version. The vehicle will hold two passengers and have an optional luggage container that straps onto the roof. The car will be able to turn into a convertible with the easy removal of the roof.

The three-wheeled car will be named Venture One. It will be ideal for high traffic areas and close knit cities where space is a problem. Venture one is only 40 inches wide, and is shorter than the average car, so parking problems will be a thing of the past. Two Venture Ones will be able to fit into one parking space. However passengers don't sit next to one another, but more in a motorbike style of one behind the other.

For the hybrid, which takes petrol, the gas mileage is a low 120 miles per gallon. The electric version will go an easy 120 miles before needing a charge. Although it is created for urban living, the car is able to keep its pace on the freeway as well, going from zero to 60 in five seconds.

The company is trying to capitalise on the green car market and is working with battery maker A123 system on the design. They are also involved in loading a variety of safety features, to ensure the vehicle still has some of the safety and security that a car offers.

Although the car is able to tilt 25 degrees, it's almost impossible to tip over, so there is no need for passengers to worry about falling, as one would do in a motorbike. The car looks like a tornado with its aerodynamic shape and sleek feel, however this might just be the next bold advancement in car evolution. The combination of motorbikes and cars into one compact machine has resulted into a possible green future prospect of car evolution.

Tips To Fight Rising Fuel Costs by Lynnann Leoni

Saving money and saving the environment can actually go hand in hand. With all the media working to raise awareness, one of the most effective things we can do is find ways to use less fossil fuel. So many options are becoming available, finding ways to make it affordable for everyone to update their vehicles is a big challenge.

We can get a more efficient air filter. They may cost a little more in the beginning, but more than make up for the cost in the fuel savings. Some things we can do are simple and inexpensive.

Take public transportation. Carpooling, taking the bus, riding our bike or walking when possible will save gas and is better for the environment, as well as our health.

Idling to warm up is particularly bad, as the engine needs extra fuel to warm up. After start up, allow your car to idle 15-30 seconds, then drive conservatively until it reaches normal operating temperature. Avoid idling. While idling, your car gets exactly 0 miles per gallon.

Not only do hybrid cars give you immediate savings at the pump, the U.S. government and your local state offer tax breaks for people who use gas-saving cars. Converting to a hybrid car is a good idea. There are now ways to convert your gas powered car to a water powered car with kits and instructions available online.

While this may sound extreme, since we spend most of our driving time to and from work, shortening this daily trip will save money and fuel. Reduce your commute. Moving closer to where you work.

Combine trips. If you can do several short trips in one longer trip, you will save fuel and time. Make lists to avoid having to go back to the store.

Air resistance goes up as the square of velocity. The power consumed to overcome that air resistance goes up as the cube of the velocity. Rolling resistance is the dominant force below about 40 mph. Above that, every mph costs you mileage. Drive under 60-65 since air grows exponentially denser, in the aerodynamic sense, the faster we drive. To be precise, the most efficient speed is your car's minimum speed in it's highest gear, since this provides the best "speed per RPM" ratio. Slow down.

Purchase Hybrid car, Read first by andyleela

Buying hybrid cars can be a little crumb more complicated than what you might think. The complication though, is not on the "buying hybrid car" slice, but how to go about the army of hybrid cars to choose from. But just like in any additional activities, there are some basics vital to be implicit.

It is undeclared though that on this message, we retain a fundamental understanding regarding the mind of hybrid cars, or hybrid electric vehicle ( HEV ). HEV has two easgerness sources for its engines: electric and combustion. On natural situation, like careening down the highway, this car generally runs on one or the fresh of the root, until the driver needs more power such as faster acceleration.

When this happened, the two engines commit operate in unison. HEV cars are low emission, fuel efficient, some of the characteristics worth considering when people are considering buying hybrid cars.

In postscript, hybrid cars recharge their batteries while being drive. This removes the necessity of plugging the car for electricity. This is unlike pure electric cars, which needful to be plugged in parapet sockets, like an usual engine amount.

There are besides more considerations before the pure buying is considered.

1. Prospective buyers should keep some level of understanding with terms or lingo applicable in buying hybrid cars. According to the California Music Funds Board, Ultra Low - Emission Vehicle is a car with 50 percent cleanser emission, compared with a new 2001 model car.

A Super Ultra Low - Emission Vehicle emits 90 % cleaner than average new 2002 model car. There are zero - emission cars however, are purely electric vehicles, not hybrid cars. But pure electric cars are, at this moment, impractical to produce.

2. Before buying hybrid cars, consumers should also consider their work areas, and home location. Hybrid cars are for urban or suburban area. Short distance trips are superb for fuel savings, when hybrid cars are using electric engines at low RPMs. According to experts, driving on a highway or interstate travel won't see much of the expected fuel reduction.

3. The other consideration for consumer before finally buying hybrid cars is the cost. Hybrid cars, are admittedly, priced higher than gas - powered counterparts. This is due because of the low production numbers, and the considerably complex mechanical process. But these concerns are readily compensated in the long run, by fuel saving.

Buying hybrid cars at present is encouraged by the Federal State, due to the long term benefits of limiting fuel usage. There several tax deduction for new buyers of hybrid cars. Several cities are offering free parking as an additional incentive for low - emissions vehicles.

The historical road traveled by hybrid cars

There are also other beliefs behind these types of vehicles, which make buying hybrid cars for some a serious consideration.

One is the idea that hybrid car is a new phenomenon. In the earl 1900's, American car manufacturers are producing electric, steam, and gasoline cars in equal numbers. By then, buying hybrid vehicle is as normal as buying ordinary car.

Eventually, some engineers figured out that a vehicle with multiple sources of power is possible. In 1905, a certain American engineer named H. Piper filed for the first patent for a vehicle, with engines for gas and electric.

A decade after electric self - starter made gasoline - run cars more feasible. Hybrids and other alternative were almost wiped from the market. The following years from this period was characterized cheap oil, made possible by the almost inexhaustible oil fields of the Arab world. This discouraged auto engineers to continue developing alternative cars.

The oil price hikes of 1970s, coupled with growing awareness of environmental concerns, driven engineers back to their drawing boards for new designs. Extensive and experimentation 1980s produced the hybrids in the U. S. in 2000. The earlier experience of the market on mass - produced hybrid vehicles has given engineers the encouragement to come up with complex systems, making multiple sources of power in a car possible.

In an interview by the Associated Press, Mr. Jim Press, president of Toyota Motor Sales USA, said: "I think everything will be a hybrid, eventually. It will either be a gas hybrid, a diesel hybrid, or a fuel - cell hybrid. "

From here, it is safe to declare that people buying hybrid cars, are people buying the future vehicles.

The Need For A Hybrid Minivan by Ernest Jarquio

When your family is growing and your four-door sedan is becoming too small with the rest of the family (and the dog) inside, it only means one thing: you should replace your sedan with a minivan. Moreover, if you were someone who simply wants to do some good with the environment, make that minivan a hybrid minivan.

The Need for a Hybrid Minivan

A hybrid minivan's roomy interior is the reason why a lot of people, mostly with children, have been wanting for such a car instead of a regular sedan. Also, it has been known that a minivan, hybrid or not, is fuel-efficient as compared to big trucks, SUV's and sedans with 6 cylinders. Although a growing family needs a roomier or bigger car, it doesn't need something that will add up to the family budget (especially for fuel consumption).

Aside from these, a hybrid minivan although is spacious, is light to carry because of its light exterior and aerodynamics.

"Muscled" Hybrids, Not Minivan

Today, there hasn't been any hybrid minivan running the streets of any US states, although other brands have been marketing large SUV's as minivan or an alternative to it. Yet, these "muscled" hybrids are not minivans and don't have the qualities of a true-blue minivan: fuel saver, spacious yet light, and therefore, cannot be labeled as a "hybrid minivan."

On the other side of the coin, muscled hybrids are good, too, especially if you are the outgoing type. Four-wheel drives, SUVs and trucks can run smoothly on rocky, dusty and uneven roads. And in flooded areas, they can move with power, assuring you and your passenger of a safe ride.

The downside of muscled or hybrid trucks is that they are more expensive, consume more fuel and electricity from the battery pack, and are too bulky for city ride.

Toyota's Minivan

The most anticipated brand of hybrid minivan is Toyota, a Japanese car manufacturer. Toyota holds the top spot in terms of sales for hybrid cars in the US. It enjoys 60% market share on the total sales of US hybrid cars.

The two most highly publicized and rated are Toyota's Sienna hybrid and Estima hybrid. These two hybrid minivans are at the top of their class in terms of design, aerodynamics, fuel-efficiency and engine performance.

The Soccer Moms' Fave Hybrid Minivan

Sienna hybrid is a hybrid minivan that soccer moms would love. In fact, even the machismo image of most males won't be stepped on by this well-designed hybrid minivan.

Sienna resembles the design of regular Toyota minivans. The only differences, of course, is the sleeker and more modern look and the dual energy mode of hybrids. Sienna's big brother, Estima hybrid, possesses most of Sienna's positive features, and more.

More Efficient Than Ever

Some car makers have announced redesigns to make the minivan even more fuel efficient than it is now. Although already known to be fuel saver, the redesign allows the hybrid minivan to consume fuel as efficient and as slow as a compact four-door sedan. As per estimate, the latest hybrid van could run efficiently by 35 miles with a single gallon of fuel.

The most interesting and most talked about feature of the most advanced hybrid minivan is its exhaust heat recovery system. According to the manufacturers, this exhaust system allows the recovery of thermal energy that the engine has produced, and routes such energy to heat up the engine coolant.

This process is an effective way to help the engine to warm up even if the car is idle. This way, the energy that would have been wasted (thermal energy from exhaust) has been converted into a positive energy, and thus allows the engine of the hybrid van to shut off earlier and turn on without using up energy from fuel or from the battery pack.

Hybrid Car Myths by Raymond Loesch

It's probably not a news flash that gas doesn't seem to be getting any cheaper. People all over are asking what they can do about the rise in price, and often the answer is to choose a different vehicle. That's simple, right? But what kind of vehicle should you choose? Just maybe, you should try a hybrid car.

They are the talk of the town these days. They come in great colors, sleek styles, and they will make your commute less expensive. When you look at those characteristics, how could you not choose to run to the car dealer right now and pick one up? Well, we all wish we could do just that, but before you run out, maybe you should learn a bit more about these cars.

A hybrid car is a vehicle that is run on electricity. A combination of a conventional propulsion system and a rechargeable energy storage system that is onboard the vehicle work together to give the vehicle better fuel economy than cars that run strictly on gasoline.

They are unlike battery electric vehicles because the batteries used in hybrid cars do not have to be charged by an external source. Instead, in order to get a charge, kinetic energy is generated by way of regenerative braking. Furthermore, some of them make use of their own combustion engine to create electricity. The combustion engine does this by spinning an electrical generator. The spinning does one of two things. It can either recharge the battery or in a more direct way, it can give power to an electric motor. This motor is what then drives the vehicle.

Therefore, because this fuel-economizing vehicle can generate its own electricity, it is very different from a vehicle that is run strictly on batteries. But, there is no waiting while your car charges up outside in the garage before you go to work. All you have to do is get into the car and ride.

It is true that some people have experimented with electrical vehicles in the past. However, the introduction outdid these types of cars when it came on the scene.

Because it is so innovative in the way it powers itself and the way it is able to save travelers money on fuel, it's called the car of the future. At least that's what some automakers believe, and many consumers agree with them. The next wave of the automotive market, they continue to be purchased by customers as the years go on.

So if you want a car that saves on gas and will make you the talk of town, perhaps you should invest in a hybrid car.

And you might find yourself tired of just pulling over at local gas stations to fuel up. If that's the case, you have another reason to think about purchasing a hybrid car. So get on over to the car dealer.

Looking For A Used Hybrid Car? by Ernest Jarquio

There are plenty of used hybrid cars that are for sale. The number increases everyday. You can purchase them at prices that are very much lower than the new models. One can easily find helpful information from the print ads, television and word of mouth.

One great source of information is the Internet. If you are not sure what parameters to observe when buying a hybrid car, there are guides available on the web which can prove to be very helpful when you are planning to purchase a used hybrid car.

Tips When Buying a Used Hybrid Car

To give you a few helpful tips in buying a used hybrid car, here are some important points to remember. Owning a car, new or used, means dealing with legal documents such as driver's license and insurance. Depending on which state you live in, there are specifics about registering your car with the department of motor vehicles. Along with this registration are legal papers and fees that are required by each state.

Know the Legalities

Before buying your used hybrid car, you have to consider all of these legal documents and the fees that they will incur. Make sure that these fees are included in your budget for buying a car. One more thing, the transfer of the title of ownership will have to be considered when buying a used car.

Most car dealers take care of all the government papers when you buy from them. But you will have to work on them yourself when you are buying from a private lot. If you are not very familiar with all these legalities, better consult an expert before your purchase. Some of these experts will be willing to do all the work for you for a specific amount that you will pay them.

Decide which Make and Model to Buy

After having familiarized yourself with all the legalities of owning a car, you will have to decide what type of a used hybrid car you want to purchase. Would you like a coupe, an SUV, a sedan or a truck? It will also be helpful to think about who will use the car. Is it for your own personal use or is it going to be shared among the other family members? How many members of the family will ride in it at the same time when you have to go all together? What kind of places do you usually go to?

Keping in mind particulars such as your line of work and the use for which you will employ the used hybrid car will help determine the type of car that you may want to purchase. After choosing the car type, compare the price with the budget that you have.

The next question to be answered is where are you going to buy the used hybrid car type that you have chosen? It is very important to scout around. The Internet can help you a lot on the dealers that have websites. You can access their offers even if you are at home. If you are able to pick a model that you want, you just have to visit it for viewing - you won't have to visit all the car stores, which may or may not have the model that you want.

If you do not find a model that fits your taste on the Internet, it is the time to come out of the house and personally scout around the stores. Compare each model in the store for the budget that you have in mind.

Want It to Look Flashy?

Another thing to consider when buying a used hybrid car are the accessories that you want your car to be equipped with. This is another thing that you have to compare with the price that you are willing to pay. Accessories in the car are important but if you are strict with your budget, there are some things that you can do without or that you can possibly purchase at a later time. The important thing is that you have the car as soon as possible.

Last of all the things to consider is the mode of payment that you want for the used hybrid car. Do you want to pay for it in cash or through financing? Cash would be better if you can afford it as you won't have to worry about interest payments, but if you're strapped for ready money and need the car urgently, then you just have to bite the bullet and get the loan.

Hybrid Car Sales Continue To Climb by Ernest Jarquio

As of the first quarter of 2007, data from Forbes show that in the US alone, hybrids garnered a combined sale of more than 17,000 units, a remarkable 10% increase from the same period in 2006. The demand is definitely rising, and this demand is translating into actual sales. Sale of hybrid vehicles vis-Ã -vis the total number of light-duty vehicles sold also increased by as much as 1.4% compared to previous year levels. This only means more and more buyers prefer hybrids to conventional-fuel models.

Notably, Toyota hybrids enjoy the highest patronage, accounting for as much as 13,000 units out of the total hybrids sold. Leading the pack is the Toyota Prius Hybrid with more than 8,000 units sold as of January 2007. Second is the Camry Hybrid, selling 2,801 units while the SUV Highlander hybrid sold 1,810 units.

As to brand sales, Lexus ranked second while Ford, combining its Escape and Mariner hybrid sales, came third. While Toyota accounted for 17.5% in brand sales, Ford accounted for 11.2%.

What is surprising is the marked decline in Honda Civic Hybrid sales, which posted a sharp downturn of more than 43% in 2007, compared to its 2006 sales for the first months of the year. Even the Accord Hybrid posted a decline of 29.3%.

Why the Rush To The Hybrid Section?

As fuel prices soar, more and more car buyers are prompted to go for hybrid cars. Since 2003, hybrid car-makers have been raking in profits from hybrid car sales. In 2004 in the US alone, hybrid car sales were almost 88,000 units. And with the increasing awareness about climate change and global warming, hybrid car sales are yet again expected to surge.

With great expectations for hybrid car sales to reach record highs in 2007, carmakers are rushing to put into the market new models, packed with all the environmental protection and fuel efficiency features that they could muster, not to mention the technological come-ons. New models are also widening the array of offerings, from compact to mid-sized sedans, to SUVs and minivans, even to pickups and trucks.

Car buyers can afford to be choosy with the broad range of hybrid units being offered in the market today. Moreover, fuel-efficiency and environmental friendliness features of these hybrids are reaching new heights, captivating a new kind of socially conscious and responsible breed of buyers.

Prices are reasonable enough to guarantee a following. Moreover, tax incentives and breaks are given to buyers of these eco-friendly hybrid units. Doing the math, the hybrid buyer is aware that he can easily recoup the few thousand dollars difference of a hybrid model over that of a conventional one, through reduced fuel consumption.

And these hybrids come safe for the buyer and his family, too. In addition to fuel efficiency, hybrid safety features are bringing in more buyers. Open the windows and the low emissions of your hybrid ensure that your kids are breathing fresher and cleaner air inside and outside the hybrid van. Navigation and stability systems for the hybrids are also a notch higher, adding to the safety factor more. A hybrid car buyer is assured of efficiency not only fuel-wise, but overall car performance-wise.

As buyers become more fuel-price conscious and more aware of climate change and the effects of greenhouse gases; as they realize that safety is paramount, and begin to expect comfort and enjoyment from riding safe and eco-friendly vehicles, hybrid car sales will continue to rise. Car makers are thus capitalizing on this trend and are coming up with one innovative hybrid model after another. Every car dealer will surely have one hybrid in his stable.

El Camino Parts: Unique Parts for the Unique Car by Glady Reign

Among all the vehicles that graced automotive history, the Chevrolet El Camino was one of those types that were unique in character. It did not conform to what was the standard in terms of automobile aesthetics. It managed to stir the nest, so to speak, with its unusual built and distinctive style. In so doing, its individuality managed to stand out among its contemporaries to secure a loyal market following.

The Chevrolet El Camino was actually a small pick-up truck, but it was built akin to a hybrid of the passenger car and a pick-up truck. It utilized a passenger car chassis, but with a big pick-up truck bed in its back area. It was in 1959 when the El Camino’s introduction to the industry was purely to rival the success of the Ford Ranchero. Unfortunately, unlike its supposed competitor, the El Camino did not find much support from consumers. Hence, after only two years after its release, Chevrolet resolved to discontinue its franchise. Another four years later and Chevrolet had a change of heart to revive the El Camino, this time under the new Chevrolet Chevelle platform. Under the Chevelle’s lead, the El Camino was able to reinvent its system in a number of generations. This time, the market was more than willing to take on the Chevrolet El Camino’s individuality, strengthened by the uniquely engineered El Camino Parts.

From the years 1964 to 1987, the automotive industry found itself as witness to the El Camino’s transformations, both on the exterior aspects and the parts and devices used in its assembly. From 1965 to 1966, the El Camino received a superior boost in performance with the addition of notable El Camino Parts. These were two powerful engine options â€" the performance versions of 327 engine and 396 engine, respectively. Then, 1967 arrived and brought about the disc brakes, Turbo 4003 speed transmission, and the collapsible steering column. Conversely, the 3rd generation El Camino introduced in 1968 based itself on the 116 inch wheelbase platform utilized by Chevelle. It was introduced with a longer hood, v-shaped rear side windows, a recessed rear window, and a stylish front end. Meanwhile, 1970 introduced a high performance Super Sport SS396 version, as well as a limited offer of one of Chevrolet’s most powerful engines, the LS6 454 in3 engine which was rated at 450 hp and 500 ft lbs of torque. In 1973, the fourth generation of El Camino was again redesigned. The front end still incorporated the single-unit headlights while the wraparound signal lamps were dropped. The year 1976 generated a front end restyling with quad stacked headlights. Launched in 1978, the 5th generation El Camino came out smaller and in a more sharp-edged style. V6 engines were also available for the first time, and from 1982 through 1984, diesel engines were introduced.

The El Camino ceased its production in 1987, even with a healthy market backing. It did not, however, mar the value of El Camino, as it is still considered as one of those great vintage cars with its own set of specialized El Camino Parts.

Your Modern Auto Body Repair Shop by Amy F. Goodmann

Most of us never would want to see the inside of an auto body repair shop. At the most we can often smell the solvents being emitted by automotive body vehicle repair shop as we drive by and wonder how those people can make it through a work day never being precise and accurate in both matching the color of car panels and repairing auto, truck and S.U.V bodies after vehicle collisions.

It is only by accident - car accidents that most of us end up inside the premises of our local, dealer or a chain auto body shop.

Most shops now bear little relation to the establishments you may remember as a child - dark and dusty surrounded by both piles of used and new car parts as well as a mean guard dog in the yard. There may be a few of those still around but they are a dying breed. Repairing cars now, especially with the electronics in today's vehicles, requires both skill, education and training, sophisticated tools and an ultra clean, modern shop.

Modern body shops now seem to be uniformly clean, well laid out and well lit. As well many body shops are laid out in several distinct separate staging areas. Vehicles are estimated in one area, body work done in another, electronic repairs in yet another area, painted in a very separate area, and finally detailed and presented to the customer in a display area.

If the vehicle has major damage, then it is moved to a disassembly area and onto a frame machine. Unibody construction is utilized by most autos today. Unibody is a an automotive and mechanical body term which describes how sheet metal is stamped, formed and welded together to form the structural portion of the car or truck body. The purpose of the "frame machine" is not to straighten the car frame now - rather it is to straighten the unibody construction of the vehicle.

Measuring the vehicle body for correct unibody alignment is more than critical. As little as one millimeter error is all that is allowed by most car, truck and S.U.V. manufacturers. Laser measuring systems are used by many body shops along with the frame machine to ensure that everything is straightened accurately to the decimal point.

With the unibody of the vehicle straight, the car, truck or S.U.V. moves to the metal work area where new sheet metal is mounted and damages area straightened. This work is still done by skilled technicians and tradesmen using hammers and dollies, but even the work done by body shop technicians has been changed by modern technologies. Overhead vacuum lines are connected to the grinders and sanders to pull dust and dirt away from this part of the shop. Modern body shops can remain very clean and dust free- indeed modern electronics , and even the most modern hi tech electronics of hybrid vehicles demand this.

With the entire metal straight, it's on to the paint preparation area, commonly referred to as "paint prep". Quality shops will use dust extraction systems to remove the dust when sanding and spraying the paint primers. Infrared lighting systems may be used to cure primer paint quickly and properly. These infrared lights can shorten the cure time from 24 hours remarkably to as little as 20 minutes. All of these procedures both help you to get a higher quality assured job and get you back on the road in a minimal time span.

Painting the final colors and clear coats is done in a paint booth. There are many types and brands of paint booths, however it is generally accepted the best are the "downdraft" units where fresh filtered air enters the top of the booth and any underspray is pulled downward and out through grates in the floor. The downdraft procedure of paint booths can produce the best and most consistent of paint finishes. In addition a well trained operator can make a great difference in final paint and appearance quality and consistency. A dust free paint booth of any design is better than a dirty and dusty paint booth of the highest end. Before spending your money or committing yourself to the job or repairs it is always best to ask to examine several examples of the shops work on several vehicles. In addition ask to see finished examples of several different body types - cars, trucks, vans and SUVs. Look for smooth finishes with minimal dust specs and colors that match from panel to panel. These are the signs of a quality paint job done by a skilled and professional painter.

It goes without saying that a professional paint shop will be proud of their faculties- the layout, equipment, training of their staff - and most of all their people.

Such a shop should have no trouble, barring practical logistics, of allowing you a tour of their facilities. Indeed after all of their careful efforts they should be most proud to give you a tour and point out their strong points and capabilities as well as examples of their finished product.

After all it's your vehicle that is being repaired - whether it is your new S.U.V, car, truck, van or bus.

Top TV Series Tackles Global Warming: Biofriendly Already There by Peter Verhoeff

Television hero Jack Bauer is set to take on global warming in addition to his usual duties of single-handedly defending the free world against terrorists, assassins, and diabolically clever double agents. This story will be told in the coming season of Fox hit series 24(1). The 2008 season of the series will be incorporating environmentally-friendly messages into episodes as well as creating a "carbon-neutral" season finale. In a somewhat less dramatic fashion, Biofriendly Corporation has been tackling this problem for over 16 years.

"It is good to see a mainstream television series attacking this vital issue which affects us all," says Jim D'Arezzo, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing of Biofriendly Corporation. "It is because of the severity of problems like global warming that we at Biofriendly have spent the last 16 years and over $25 million developing an effective solution: Green Plus® liquid fuel catalyst."

Green Plus helps solve a 100-year-old problem in the conversion of fuel to energy. The problem is that hydrocarbon molecules within fuel tend to cluster, so oxygen cannot fully react with them. Biofriendly's Green Plus liquid fuel catalyst slightly "unbundles" these hydrocarbon clusters, allowing more oxygen to interact with them resulting in a faster, more linear and more complete burn. The result is more engine power, more torque, better fuel economy and, most importantly, fewer environmentally-harmful emissions such as carbon dioxide, the main contributor to global warming.

In addition to over 4 billion proven miles of customer use, Biofriendly's Green Plus has undergone exhaustive testing by such independent laboratory organizations as California Environmental Engineering (CEE), Southwest Research Institute, and Olson EcoLogic.

Fox's efforts have not stopped at the series. Kiefer Sutherland, who portrays Jack Bauer, has also recorded a public service announcement on the effects of global climate change, and similar spots including other cast members of the series are in the works. Fox themselves have joined a growing list of major corporations in "going green," and are taking steps such as purchasing all of its energy from renewable power sources, integrating hybrid cars into its production fleet, and posting resources on the Web for viewers to learn how to reduce their own carbon use.

Biofriendly is proud to lend their name to the growing trend to save our planet.

Lexus, the luxury car division of Toyota Motor Corp., presents the Lexus LS 600hL as the world’s first V8 all-wheel-drive hybrid. It is also the Lexus that is capable of parking itself, apart from having the performance comparable to a sport sedan.

Powered with a 5 L V8 hybrid that provides 290kW/520Nm of torque, the Lexus LS 600hL is capable of running 0 to 100 km in 6.3 seconds. And it only consumes as little as 9.3 liters of 95 RON petrol for every 100 km.

The 2.4 tonne kerb weight leaves a fairly petite carbon footprint of 219 grams per kilometer, as the weight is being clawed through a tight bend with surety via a Torsen all-paw system.

The LS 600hL has the first application of LED low-bean headlights. But, what is more thrilling is the Intelligent Park Assist (IPA) system sustained. The technology makes use of a rear camera and ultrasonic sensors in identifying a parking space and calculates the correct steering angle to guide the vehicle without curbing the 19 inches rims or perhaps bending fenders. And, the driver’s involvement only comes from putting pressure on the gas pedal.

Aside from the intuitive park assist, the LS 600hL is also equipped with an advanced pre-collision system that readies the car for an unavoidable accident. It also has antilock breaks, vehicle stability control and traction control to provide assurance of safety to drivers in the event of an accident.

The LS 600hL also features push button control on side and rear window blinds, and automatic controls on body heat sensor.

According to Jesse Munoz, technical instructor for Toyota, Lexus and Scion AK, the LS 600hL is compared to other cars like talking about apples and oranges. Self-parking Lexus sold in Australia by Evander Klum

Lexus, the luxury car division of Toyota Motor Corp., has introduced a technology that allows a car to reverse park by itself. The Lexus vehicle equipped with the technology has been set on sale in Australia at an expensive price of $200,000.

The new Lexus LS600hL gets the Intelligence Parking Assistance system as a standard feature. The vehicle is considered the first petrol-electric vehicle hybrid limousine in the world. Two versions of the car are priced between $225,000 and $250,000. But, despite that cost, the vehicle will be sold out until mid next year.

Though there are sixty-three customers who have already ordered, only five units of the new Lexus LS600hL will be imported to Australia every month. The demand in other countries has boosted this controlled supply.

The Australian introduction has been delayed for two years due to the previous concerns of Lexus involving public liability.

According to John Roca, the boss in Lexus Australia, “No, it doesn’t mean you’re a bad driver. People who buy this car are interested in technology. They may not necessarily use park assist but they want to know they have the latest gadget.”

The reverse, or parallel parking system, works with the use of a camera and a series of radar sensors placed in the bumpers. Upon pulling up alongside an empty parking space, the system determines whether the car will fit up in the gap between the two parked cars. Then, at a press of a button, the vehicle steer itself into position.

However, Lexus has given a warning, “The driver, naturally, must continue to exercise all due care and diligence when using the parking system.” In addition, “[The parking system] is designed as a driver-assist device only and should not be used as a substitute for skilled driving and safe parking practices. The driver should watch the area into which the vehicle is to be reversed.”

Aside from being equipped with quality Lexus head gasket, the self-parking Lexus will also be sustained with other world-first technology, which includes rear seats that have a massage function and can be reclined like business-class aircraft seats. There will also be an air-conditioning system that measures the occupants’ body temperature and could adjust the temperature of the car accordingly. There are also headlight lamps that are designed to view around corners. The vehicle will also have more airbags than most other limousines at a total of 11, including two under-thigh airbags in the rear to prevent pelvic and abdominal injuries in a crash.

Most likely, the self-parking technology will also be incorporated on the next generation Toyota Prius petrol-electric hybrid car. The vehicle is due two years from now. With an estimated price of $45,000, the technology is placed within reach of family-car customers.
